This collection contains women's-related periodicals that span the 18th through the 19th century and represent a broad range of subjects and places of publication. This collection, containing over 210 periodicals, spans the Colonial through the Jacksonian Eras, from the 1730s to 1840s, the turbulent yet optimistic years of Westward expansion, the Civil war for women, and the post war era with Southern religious and cultural periodicals to Northern domestic and parenting magazines. Because almost all of the women's periodicals by nature covered many topics, the titles included in this collection highlight radically changing perceptions of womanhood and ideas about the role of women over this period of time.
